Tech Mahindra Limited, a leading global Systems Integrator and Business Transformation Consulting services firm primarily focused on the Telecommunications industry, today announced the launch of Tech Mahindra South Africa in partnership with Falcorp.

The launch of Tech Mahindra South Africa follows the announcement in 2011 to reinforce its leadership and focus across its African operations. The newly formed company will be a Level 3 Broad-Based Black Economic Empowered (B-BBEE) company.
Tech Mahindra South Africa will help create local job opportunities and invest heavily in skills development, and employment equity, over a period of 6-12 months. As part of the B-BEEE strategy, the company will target to have ~65{af589cdba9d77786c8c861317dbad60bba1e2ebbf56e2ffab874a1b59fde9ce3} in local preferential procurement, a corporate social investment plan as well as a leadership and internship programme. A dedicated Talent Exchange Program for the transfer of skills between India and South Africa will also be initiated.

Building on its commitment to bring the latest solution to the market, Tech Mahindra will bring its full range of Network and Mobility offerings (inclusive of design, building, implementing and support for the telecoms sector), to the African ICT sector. The offering of analytics for any business application including mobility, cloud and security solutions also forms part of its strategy.

Tech Mahindra and Mahindra Satyam together employ close to 300 associates in South Africa. Mahindra Satyam, another group IT Company, was the official Information Technology Services Provider to the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa. Both the companies form a part of the larger USD 15.9 billion multinational group – Mahindra & Mahindra, which has dealers in all nine provinces of South Africa, which are full-fledged facilities that handle sales, service and spare parts.

“Establishing a local entity is a significant mile stone for us in Southern Africa. As the whole region moves towards recovering from the impact left by the recent economic downturn, local telecoms providers have demonstrated a key shift in their IT spending practices. We intend to bring in our expertise around NMACS (Network, Mobility, Analytics, Cloud, Security) with traditional Application Support and Development to our customers in the region.” said Girish Bhat, Vice President -Sales and Operations, MEA, Tech Mahindra.

The customer target market for Tech Mahindra in South Africa is the Telecoms and Media Sector. As suppliers in the dynamic ICT space that is characterized by highly innovative, speed-of-response-based solutions, Tech Mahindra South Africa will be filling a void in the local market in terms of international best practice and vast experience in design, development, implementation and support of solutions to our clients.
