Tejas Networks, a leading provider of telecom equipment to leading  service providers won the Aegis Graham Bell award for innovation in Green telecom technologies. Mr Sanjay Nayak, MD, CEO and co-founder of Tejas Networks, was also nominated into “T20 of Indian Telecom Industry”, a list of top 20 stars driving the Indian telecom industry. The list was released by Dr Abhijit Gangopadhyay, Dean of Aegis School of Business.

Aegis Graham Bell awards are intended to promote innovation in the field of Telecom, Internet, Media and Entertainment and to recognize outstanding contributions.  Tejas networks won the award in the green telecom category for the Tejas vSave100 product.  Tejas vSave100 is an innovative energy management product which optimizes the energy usage at cell towers from a variety of sources and significantly reduces the operating costs incurred by operators for each cell site.  Considering that many cell sites in India have intermittent or minimal grid power and the fact that commonly used diesel generators are the most expensive and the most polluting sources of energy, use of Tejas vSave100 enables opex savings of 30-70{af589cdba9d77786c8c861317dbad60bba1e2ebbf56e2ffab874a1b59fde9ce3} per site and reduces several thousands of tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

“At Tejas our effort has been to use our R&D and innovation to solve critical business problems of our customers.  In countries like India, where the constant availability of power has been a challenge, we needed to come up with a solution that saves operating costs, reduces pollution and increases the uptime of telecom services. Our new product vSave100 combines the latest technologies from multiple technology domains to offer a unique solution to our customers. In addition to vSave100, we have been at the forefront of bringing in green technologies into telecom networks, and have successfully reduced the power consumption of all our telecom products by using innovative low-power product architecture, modular design and reconfigurable hardware platform.   We feel deeply honored that our efforts towards green telecom technologies has been recognized and are delighted to receive this award”, said Sanjay Nayak, CEO, MD & Co-founder, Tejas Networks.
