Recently, I came across two funny ‘Infographics’. Both of them pictorially represented the companies involved into patent infringements lawsuits in mobile business. The arrows marked here originate at the source company, whose patents are violated by other companies, shown at destination of arrow. Few things could be noticed from such representations:
- Most of the lawsuits are pertaining to mobile devices, related technology such as 3G/4G/LTE and platform OS.
- Apple, one the most successful companies in mobile space today, holds highest number of lawsuits pending against. It seems that success has many ‘Anti-Heros’.
- Nokia, which is losing ground in Smartphone segment as well as in mobile shipments, has filed lawsuits against every competitor in the business except RIM. Is it obvious?
- Surprisingly Microsoft, Google & Apple don’t owe anything directly to each other in mobile space. It’s also quite interesting to note that, Microsoft stands purely clean with regards to mobile patent lawsuits.
Isn’t it interesting?
