AirtelBharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa has powered up its core location with Solar Power at Gangaganj, LucknowThis location is one of the major switching and routing centre, which processes the voice & data traffic for the telecom operator. 

The 100KWp non penetrating rooftop Solar power plant is the first of its kind in the Indian telecom industry and will save close to 26 thousand liters of diesel per year. Going forward, the company is planning to replicate similar power plants in 6 other Core Locations generating close to 300 KWp of solar energy. The project has received 30{af589cdba9d77786c8c861317dbad60bba1e2ebbf56e2ffab874a1b59fde9ce3} subsidy from the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE).

Bharti Airtel has recently launched its first Sustainability Report on India Operations. Along with various partners, the company has been working to reduce Green House Gas (GHG) emissions in its operations and has reported 11{af589cdba9d77786c8c861317dbad60bba1e2ebbf56e2ffab874a1b59fde9ce3} reduction in GHG emissions per terabyte in network infrastructure in 2011-12.
