- New campus video monitoring system to ensure the safety of students at more than 550 primary schools, middle schools and kindergartens in Hefei, China
- Anhui Mobile has selected Ericsson’s GPON solution to build the system, expected to be fully operational in October 2010
- Ericsson’s high capacity, low cost GPON solution has been deployed across China to serve millions of high-end broadband subscribers
When the system is complete, real-time video monitoring network will be established among the schools, local police stations and the Monitoring Center of Hefei Municipal Public Security Bureau. Through this deployment, Ericsson and Anhui Mobile will demonstrate a model for how communities can ensure the personal safety of children at school.
Ericsson’s GPON solution features large capacity, wide coverage, high flexibility and strong stability. It enables the operators to quickly deploy broadband networks while minimizing costs. According to the agreement with Anhui Mobile, Ericsson will deploy its most advanced EDA 1500 GPON system for all local police stations in Hefei and optical network units with four gigabit-level interfaces at the campus monitoring points. The system is expected to be put into operation this month.
Mats H Olsson, President of Ericsson China and Northeast Asia, says: “Ericsson is proud to partner with Anhui Mobile to help keep school kids safe across the city of Hefei. This is an extremely important initiative that directly reflects Ericsson’s vision for how technology can change lives and shape worlds. Through Ericsson’s innovative communications solutions, we’re enabling communities to create safe environments for today’s kids.”
To date, Ericsson has deployed its GPON solution in over 20 Chinese provinces, supporting tens of millions of subscribers. Ericsson has signed several agreements with China Mobile and its eight branches for GPON-based FTTx broadband access equipment and relevant services. Hefei is one of the largest cities in China’s Anhui province and home to one of Ericsson’s largest GPON deployments.
