eBay India (www.eBay.in), India’s leading eCommerce marketplace, released the Battle of the Gadgets report based on an analysis of all gadget transactions on eBay India from January 1, 2013 to March 31, 2013 (Q1).
The report reveals interesting insights on gadget consumption patterns of Delhi. Battle of the Gadgets dives deep into the fastest moving gadget categories of Mobile Phones, Laptops, Tablets, Digital Cameras, & Televisions to illustrate consumer behavior through multiple attributes such as brand adoption, pricing and geographical relevance.
According to Ms. Deepa Thomas, eCommerce Evangelist, eBay India, “Gadgets have always been very popular with Delhi shoppers on eBay India with as much as 47{af589cdba9d77786c8c861317dbad60bba1e2ebbf56e2ffab874a1b59fde9ce3} of the shopping basket being from the electronics category. We have been observing an increasing trend of smart phone consumption in the city with Samsung being the most popular mobile brand with a 25{af589cdba9d77786c8c861317dbad60bba1e2ebbf56e2ffab874a1b59fde9ce3} market share, followed by Sony and Blackberry at 18{af589cdba9d77786c8c861317dbad60bba1e2ebbf56e2ffab874a1b59fde9ce3} and 12{af589cdba9d77786c8c861317dbad60bba1e2ebbf56e2ffab874a1b59fde9ce3} each”
As per the report, consumers across the country are upgrading to personal and portable devices as smart phone and tablet sales are gaining immense momentum. Nationally, Smart phone purchases have gone up by more than 3 times and tablets have more than doubled as compared to purchases in the same quarter last year. Televisions, another popular category on eBay India, have also observed a dynamic change with LCD TVs losing sheen to LED TVs. On the brands front, Samsung has surfaced as the most popular gadget brand in the country with a 27{af589cdba9d77786c8c861317dbad60bba1e2ebbf56e2ffab874a1b59fde9ce3} market share across the five gadget categories on eBay India.
