While the Samsung Galaxy S4 has two variants, one features a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 and the other featuring a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa. The Exynos 5 Octa 5410 processor is the one with an amazing ARM big LITTLE heterogeneous architecture. It consists of four pairs of big 1.6 GHz quad-core with ARM Cortex-A15 and another four pair of little power-efficient 1.2 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7. At any time of day, either the “Big” or “Power-Efficient “will be active depending as per the demands of the chip’s firmware for the on-going running software and powered by 4.2.2 (Jelly bean).
Sony Xperia Z Ultra is powered by the 4.2.2 Jelly bean operating by Google for smart phones, whereas Samsung Galaxy S4 has the same operating system. When it comes to processor Samsung galaxy S4 takes the lead. Sony Xperia Z is mounted on a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor when compared to Samsung Galaxy S4 which is powered by a Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A15 and Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 processor that provides high speed performance and also smoother the multi-tasking process by using required processor for the task. Samsung Galaxy S4 has not mentioned about newer version on android.

Both Sony Xperia Z Ultra sports a 6.4 inches display and Samsung Galaxy S4 sport a 5 inch display with 1920 X 1080 resolutions but then there are other distinguishes as well. Sony has features a 6.4 inch Capacitive touch screen on which is a water resistant and scratch proof sheet on mineral glass which offers crystal clear display whereas the Samsung Galaxy S4 houses 5 inch PenTile RGBG super full HD almond display capacitive touch screen with 441 pixels per inch with Gorilla Glass . Both the phones have made been engineered with such efficient display7s that they can be called cropped versions of a blend between a tablet and a full HD TV.
Camera:
Sony Xperia Z Ultra features a 8 MP camera and Samsung Galaxy S4 is equipped with 13 mega Pixel camera with 1080 pixels along with full HD recording at the rate of 30 frames per second Sony has introduced the Exmor RS technology along with luminance and noise reduction where the captured snaps will be highly detailed and it also aims at reproducing the snaps clicked in challenging conditions so as to provide the image or video with a razor sharp quality. Even the front camera has 2.2 Mega Pixel with a resolution of 1080 pixel quality recording which again beats the Galaxy S4 with 2 Mega pixel which is quite negligible. This is more like a camera which can take pictures under water in the guise of a smart phone. With such striking feature and quality one can easily pay for such an amazing gadget unless you do not consider other cons of it.
Memory and RAM:
Sony Xperia Z Ultra has only one model with flash memory of 16 GB where the user available is only 11 GB as the remaining 5 GB is used by the Android operating system and few preloaded application which is available to the user on start-up and also with 2 GB of RAM backing the system for the high performance and there is also present an external memory slot which supports up to 64GB. Samsung galaxy S4 comes in three models which gives an option of 16 GB, 32 GB and of 64 GB internal memory to choose from as it supports an external memory of 64GB. Of course even in Samsung not complete 16GB, 32GB, 64 GB is made available for use, a part of internal memory will be used for Operating system and the preloaded applications, and then there is a backing provided for the system with a RAM of 2GB. One feature worth the note here is the LPDDR3 (Low Power double data rate) which makes the processing faster along with Exynos 5 Octa. Easily Samsung is a clear winner here without a second thought.
Battery:
Sony Xperia Z Ultra is powered by 3050 mAh which offers a 14 hours talk time. You aware of the battery juicing out of the Android smart phones, to add to the woes, the battery is non-removable so you can’t even take it out and keep it aside in any case you are not going to use your phone at all. This adds to the negatives of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra.
Samsung, on the other hand has introduced an impressive technology where it provides 2600 mAh Li-ion battery which can be replaced and also features wireless charging. That means you have several years into the future where you do not have to mess around with the cables around your neck.

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is tagged with a price of Rs. 36000/- INR while the Samsung galaxy S4 is tagged with a price of approximately 37000/- INR.
If the price is all that you think about, and then there isn’t even a necessity to look at other features, you can pick the Sony Xperia Z Ultra without a second thought, but if performance is what you are in need of then Samsung is a clear winner. If you are so much into waterproof phones you can leave the comparison aside for the Samsung Galaxy S4 is clearly not a waterproof. Just sit back and take a look at the other features of the smart phones before you make a choice. In this game of feature wars, Samsung Galaxy S4 is a clear winner; after all it is the best smart phone of as of May 2013. It may look tough, but you are comparing between the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Sony Xperia Ultra then just pocket the Samsung Galaxy S4.
