Micromax, the largest Indian Mobile handset manufacturer today announced appointment of its new Chief Marketing Officer. Shubhodip Pal will lead all marketing efforts of Micromax globally.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Rahul Sharma, Co-founder, Micromax said “Our endeavor is to surprise consumers with mobile phone innovations or on any new businesses we enter. In his 16 years of career spent at global renowned brands such as Samsung, ABN AMRO, HP and Blyk, Shubhodip has earned several national and international industry recognitions. In the last Brand Equity survey by Economic Times he was rated as one of the Top 8 Young Marketers in the country in 2009. Also awarded as one of the Super Achievers in the Global Telecom Business Awards Under 40 last year – a rare feat with two other Indians in the Global List.

Over the past 16 years Shubhodip has worked in the consumer space, in the areas of strategizing and implementing new and innovative campaigns. In his last role, Shubhodip was heading BLYK India, a mobile messaging company and was successful in launching India’s First Mobile magazine catering to the Youth as its Country Manager & Director. In his tenure at Blyk, he successfully established the service with Aircel as one of the most powerful youth engagement platforms within first year of its launch, today BLYK on Aircel has over 3.7 Million opted in users.
Prior to joining Blyk, Pal was Head Consumer Marketing Hewlett Packard India, Personal Systems Group managing both brands HP & Compaq. Turning HP into a Fashionable Lifestyle centric brand from just being a B2B brand was a task which he successfully transformed the Brand to in his 5 years there, he was also instrumental to work with his International brand team in revising the entire Compaq brand Identity. His nine and half year stint with Samsung India included categories like audio-visual, home appliances and mobile phones, when contacting a few sources the industry vouches for the Innovation he chartered in the Brands growth there with many firsts @ Samsung. His stint after Samsung was briefly with ABN-AMRO as their AVP & Head Communications & Sponsorships at the Bank, N.V. and was a part of Regional Brand Strategy team for BU Asia.
