CanvasM welcomes Global Certification Forum (GCF) to India!

CanvasMTech MahindraCanvasM Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tech Mahindra and a leading provider of mobility solutions & services to telecom operators and enterprises, today announced that the Global Certification Forum (GCF) will hold its 54th Steering Group meeting in India from March 19-21. It is the first time GCF’s principal meeting has been held in India. CanvasM is the first Indian test and certification company to join GCF.

GCF’s proven ‘test once, use anywhere’ certification scheme provides a globally trusted benchmark of the interoperability of a mobile device across different networks.  The scheme also minimises duplication of testing and can reduce time-to-market for new mobile devices.

Alongside its Steering Group meeting, GCF will also meet with India’s leading telecom operators, equipment manufacturers, chipset manufacturers, test equipment manufacturers and the nodal bodies like TRAI, COAI, and DoT.  These meetings will enable senior industry leaders in India to gain a better understanding of the benefits that can accrue from the global harmonization of mobile device testing and certification. GCF members are looking forward to learning more about the high-growth Indian mobile market.

CanvasM has played hugely valuable role in facilitating GCF’s Steering Group and industry meetings in India.

The mobile handset market is growing at a rate of 20{af589cdba9d77786c8c861317dbad60bba1e2ebbf56e2ffab874a1b59fde9ce3} per year and there are more than 600 devices being launched in this dynamic market annually. Given this scenario, CanvasM Technologies Ltd. has taken this pioneering step to offer third party test services to OEMs, ODMs and MVNOs seeking to take advantage of the benefits of GCF Certification.

“CanvasM partnering with GCF is a key milestone in the journey of telecom industry in India.  Customer experience is becoming increasingly the driver for growth and the quality of service and predictability on devices is therefore the most visible impact on customer experience”, said Jagdish Mitra, CEO, CanvasM

“GCF is a recognized benchmark of mobile device interoperability around the world, giving operators confidence in the interworking of new mobile devices. We’re delighted that CanvasM is at the forefront of making GCF Certification more accessible to the Indian Market,” said Dr. Adriana Nugter, Operations Manager, GCF.

“We appreciate GCF and their Members efforts and for this pioneering initiative in India. We will surely examine the modalities, benefits and the procedures for aligning with GCF and how to adopt test specifications and standards in the Indian market with our members,” said Rajan Mathews, Director General, COAI

CanvasM recently launched its second device testing lab in USA. These labs offer services such as operator specific testing, testing, protocol testing and application testing.
