Some days back, Tata-DoCoMo shared a Daily Plans PR of its latest tariff scheme ‘DO the New Everyday’ with Telecomblogs. And Telecomblogs simply loved the idea behind it. So we decided it to share with you all. Perhaps, this is the only scheme available to pre-paid subscribers in the market, which allows them to choose a new tariff plan everyday, depending upon their need. So instead of just sticking to your tariff plan till its cycle ends, you can jump from one plan to other daily (from limited product options). With the launch of ‘DO the New Everyday’, DoCoMo has added one more first-in-market to their credit. Earlier, DoCoMo was in news last year, with its revolutionary per-sec-billing scheme launch. And as you all know per-sec-billing tariffs has entirely changed the course of telecom industry. Though many other telcos simply followed the suite, one could easily distinguish ‘First Mover’ and followers in market. It was certainly a disruptive idea.
But how beneficial is per-sec-billing in long term? And how are you going make use of ‘DO the New Everyday’ plan? Are you willing to send SMS to *141# everyday to find out new plans (Listed here) and choose them? How effective is the idea of making super-flexible tariffs? Some of the listed products like Rs 2/min calling to US-Canada are attractive, but others offer little advantage to test your patience daily. Sometimes mere innovative idea just mayn’t work; it needs right time of arrival. Now every other telco has per-sec-billing weapon it their kitty, the tariff plan has lost its glamour and many users are pondering on ‘how effective the plan is for them? ‘
Certainly, it’s not too early for DoCoMo to bring new tariff product in market. Market has consumed earlier schemes quite easily, but in an overly packed pre-paid segment mere differentiation or bringing innovative tariff plans don’t guarantee the success all the time. Though, technology behind these schemes has helped operators to launch super-flexi tariff schemes instantly, market dynamics mayn’t be always favorable to them. Success of such schemes also depends on how rivals react before waking up late. And if they are quick enough, you even don’t have to switch to DoCoMo. Your own operator may offer you same thing, perhaps at better cost margins.
