I got little more than surprised to actually count the number of different service providers, providing various telecom services in Mumbai circle.
Let me summarize it here:
- 2G Service Providers: Idea Cellular, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel, Tata DoCoMo, Uninor, MTNL, Loop, Reliance GSM, Videocon, Etisalat DB.
- 3G Service Providers: Airtel, Vodafone, Reliance, MTNL.
- CDMA Service Providers: MTS, Reliance CDMA, Tata Indicom, MTNL.
So in all, there’re 19 Telecom Service Providers, altogether providing either 2G, 3G or CDMA Services in Mumbai.
This count may remain more or less same in rest of the telecom circles in India. Quite fragmented market indeed!
