Tweetymail- Lots of bugs & least convenience!

I don’t buy Twitter’s latest logic- Tweetymail. Reason: First it’s very buggy (keeping Twitter’s reputation intact) and second, it’s the best way to complicate a simple process- tweeting! Why I have to use my email client to send/receive tweets? That’s the simple question I am trying to answer after initial review of the application.  Perhaps few people will find it convenient, but unless you have some specific reasons to send tweets via email client, I don’t recommend this service to anyone.

Today afternoon (IST) when the news of Tweetymail broke and spread like wildfire, I decided to take plunge and see how things are working. But the moment I entered my email account to link to Tweetymail service, I got an error. Only after numerous attempts I could pass through this stage .

Then comes next part, which is more interesting. After my account got verified and set as primary account, I decided to send my first tweet from email. The funny part here is that, there are five different email addresses given, each for special purpose. For example, if you want to send simple text or image tweet, you need to send email to: [email protected]. Then if you want to see latest tweets, you have to send email to: [email protected]. Same is true to block, unblock and to follow users; for each you have to send email.

The moment I sent my first tweet, I received an error, ‘Sender couldn’t be verified’. After some time, I tried to get latest tweets from my account, but it failed again with same sender verification error.  There’s no point in using the service, as I was not even able to send a simple text tweet. So finally I decided to log out of my Tweetymail account. An attempt without success!

Once you sign in to Tweetymail application via your Twitter account, you can choose between two types of account. First one is free version of application and other one is Full Access (Invitation Code Based). You can find more information about these two types at Tweetymail UserGuide. You can also avail the facility of email alerts with every tweet, search & mentions. Tweetymail also sends detailed and powerful notifications for new followers and direct messages.

My take on mixing Tweeting with email is simple. Both have different purpose and importance. Although Tweetymail is in initial phase of launch, what’s more surprising that there’s even no ‘Report a bug’ button available to report issues with application. It’s certainly an application that has created positive waves in Webosphere, but beyond that it has limited appeal. At least for Tweeting, I would prefer Tweeter Clients and not Email Clients! It’s just an idea without much practical usage- What you say?
